Walking England's Cotswolds

My dear friend Leora, forever introducing me to mind-expanding experiences, books and websites, has done it again. This time, it is Backroads.com.

Walking, biking, adventure trips all over the world. As a garden haunter with roots and inspirations deep in both English formal and cottage gardens, I was instantly drawn to their trip titled England Walking: Rambling in the Classic Cotswolds.
"We amble from inn to inn, pausing to exchange greetings with the locals and to admire some of England’s finest gardens." They continue - "Footpaths once trod upon by Celts and Romans crisscross gently rolling terrain, leading from wide-open pastures to honey-hued hamlets with charming thatch-roofed houses and yards festooned with flowers."

Festooned. Festooned?! Thatch-roofed houses?! Oh, Lordy.

The walks, it looks like, are also dosed with a healthy smattering of pub visits and ale tastings.

Ack! How can I get there, by, like, tomorrow??!!

Now accepting donations.

Hi, I just found your wonderful blog. I am bookmarking it!

I am also a gardener in Zone 7 (in DC). I like the list of "to-dos" on your sidebar. Very helpful since we're in the same zone.

Hi Christa,

So good to hear from you! I am going to enjoy following what is a-happening in your garden as well. Fun to have a fellow garden blogger in the same zone.

We were in the Cotswolds last May and the houses and villages there are like something out of a story book. We managed to spend half a day at Hidcote Manor Garden and it was one of the best days of my life.
