The Fig Tree. You. Me. 2011.

And it's gonna be awesome.

A talk with a fellow gardener at a 3-year old's birthday party on Sunday injected my fig lust with further loopiness when he told me that he bought a small 'Brown Turkey' fig at Whole Foods a few years ago and now it is half-way up the height of his house.

Seriously? Seriously?!

{!!!!!}

Imagine the number of readily available figs with a tree that size. Holy smokes. Nothing cuts through a February day like the memory of a fig - warm from the late August sun. I could see myself just sitting under those big figgy leaves and snacking in the evening light.

{Apparently I wrote about this last year, too. But over at Virginia Living. Enough with all of this gabbing about fig trees. Now that I have rediscovered the mattock, I am in like Flynn.}

Fig trees are delicious. I just put a brown turkey fig into the ground last year and it is doing really well. They can grow like a weed. Have fun.

I bought my daughter one of these figs for Mothers' Day last year. She was thrilled with it. I hope hers does as well as yours is doing.
