This boardwalk, part of Jones Beach on Long Island, was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. So are other favorite spots from my childhood. But New Yorkers are a scrappy bunch and I know things will be rebuilt. For now, I am sending thoughts of love to those struggling with the loss and destruction.
