Sweet, Sweet Summer Day

We are getting a break from the heat and humidity today. Resulting in humongous internal yelps of appreciation on my part.

My body must have known, as I was up before 7 a.m. - a rarity on the weekends. Out in the vegetable garden by 7:15. Finished harvesting our spinach by 8. Thoroughly sick of weeding by 11. Ready for a little shade gardening now . . . I think I burned the tops of my feet . . . loverly . . .

Sights: Geese flying over in V-formation; a baby cardinal learning how to fly; calendula seedlings; sprouting corn in raised beds; richly textured mountain views; a prickly pear flower (biggest surprise of the week! - pictured directly above)

Sounds: Woodpeckers; more red-winged blackbirds; small planes lazily flying overhead (I don't know why this reminds me of summer afternoons - but it is a big nostalgia thing for me . . . ); Corey working on the house - power tools and the sound of progress!

Smells: Honeysuckle - out in the yard and drifting into the house in the evenings; basil - Spicy Globe, Lemon, Thai and Genovese - especially strong as I transplant each into the garden; rhubarb cobbler baking in the oven . . .

Steph - I think it would go great with your Meadow Tea. Yes?
