Fairy Worlds

Willa and I have been fawning over this book from the library - Cicely Mary Barker's Flower Fairies of the Summer. Our land is covered in buttercups right now, so you can imagine who is a favorite around here lately.

This led to our own (a-hem) discovery of a fairy house. We have been leaving offerings of buttercups and azaleas. And Willa woke from a nap - to find four acorn shells filled with teeny-tiny, white bridal wreath blossoms within a tiny wicker basket. Needless to say, I am having a blast with this imaginary world. And all of the rain also makes for an extra mossy, lichen-covered fairy house. Which is totally awesome.

On that note, later this week - aging stuff with moss milkshakes!

little j loves to build fairy houses. We were introduced to a series of books (http://www.fairyhouses.com/) a couple of years ago. So many great ideas!

When I was little we used to stay at my grandparents' house in the country. My aunt lived next door and would encourage us to build fairy houses in her (amazing and huge) garden. We would go in for lunch and come back to discover treats in our fairy houses. It was so exciting. I haven't remembered this for years - thanks!
