The Wardian Case - It Lives!

My friend Kris and I had an outing this past Tuesday to a local greenhouse. I finally bought ferns that I have mooned over for years - to put in my Wardian Case. Maidenhair ferns, asparagus ferns . . . a few I don't even know the names of but needed to get. The case is in our new bedroom - and was the final thing I peeked at before I fell asleep last night and the first thing I looked at when I woke up this morning. I feel like a little kid. And I'm in heaven.

Your Wardian case reminded me of reading about Ward and his quest for the Himalayan blue poppy.

I have one too, but it isn't as ornate as yours.

I hope you take pictures once in awhile.

Ah, blue poppies... one of those plants like Gunnera that's just impossible to grow on the east coast (too many extremes). The Alaska botanical garden has a beautiful display of them that's worth seeing.

Beautiful!
I have two of them. One, my girls got me several years ago, and the other, I bought at Longwood Gardens. They used them on their tables when they celebrated 100 years. I just think they're fabulous and I feel your joy!

I will definitely take pictures, Kate. I'm too obsessed not to!

The Wardian Case is so pretty...nice with the ferns varieties inside!!! I had a fascination with ferns for their spores, while in college taking Plant Biology...which I adored and got an A in! Should have tipped me off to the fact that I would like gardening once I grew up!!! LOL.
